Thomas Rogers Forbes was born in New York City on January 5, 1911. He received a B.A. (1933) and a Ph.D. (1937) from the University of Rochester. Before World War II, he taught anatomy at Johns Hopkins University. He joined the faculty of Yale University in 1945, where he remained until his death in 1988.
